speitbsc SPE ITB Joint Technical Guest Lecture x NESR was an engaging, full-day student development event conducted in collaboration with National Energy Services Reunited (NESR). Designed to deeply impact members, the event featured guest lectures from NESR’s Vice President and Country Director of Indonesia, highlighting two critical technical topics: unlocking Indonesia's unconventional reservoirs potential and NESR’s successful sand control solutions. Attended by 120 members and supported by 40 NESR employees, this program uniquely integrated three distinct event formats—technical presentations, early-career mentoring sessions (with 3 engineers per group), and an exclusive rare live demonstration of a wireline logging truck and tools inside the campus. This immersive experience significantly enhanced members’ understanding, enthusiasm, and appreciation of advanced technology tailored specifically for Indonesia's challenging oilfields. An extensive Q&A session in the lectures further expanded the event's impact by delivering not only technical insights but also valuable career and personal experiences from NESR’s leadership and professionals. These interactions notably boosted members’ technical knowledge and professional insights, directly linking to tangible career outcomes, with 3 of our members recruited as NESR's new field engineer trainees. This carefully designed integration of technical presentation, professional mentoring, and practical exposure can be easily replicated globally as it requires minimal resources yet yields high impact, making it ideal for other student chapters aiming for meaningful industry collaboration. Aligned closely with SPE’s mission, this program effectively prepares future engineers by providing essential industry insights and practical competencies.
