speitbsc SPE ITB Techno x RFD was an impactful, two-day software training held in collaboration with Rock Flow Dynamics (RFD), our chapter’s long-term partner and current year sponsor. This hands-on training provided 90 student members an intensive learning experience using RFD’s renowned reservoir and production simulation software, tNavigator. Guided by 4 experienced engineers, participants thoroughly explored 6 essential simulation modules, enhancing their proficiency in applying advanced tools to real-world reservoir and production challenges. This initiative uniquely emphasized software as a supportive engineering tool rather than an absolute solution, reinforcing the importance of solid engineering fundamentals. Specifically, participants developed an enhanced understanding of essential skills such as history matching and data-driven decision-making, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical industry applications. Innovatively, SPE ITB SC secured a substantial donation of 100 tNavigator licenses valued at USD 60,030,000, significantly enhancing software accessibility via campus VPN, enabling final-year members to effectively execute Field Development Plan (FDP) projects. The sustained partnership also delivered impressive career outcomes, with 9 members just accepted for final thesis internships and 2 fresh graduates successfully recruited as full-time engineers at RFD. This program stands out as a benchmark for other student chapters globally by demonstrating how strategic industry partnerships can significantly enhance technical skills, career readiness, and employability among future petroleum engineers, regardless of regional limitations. Such innovative collaboration positions our members and those who replicate this approach as highly competent future industry professionals.
