speitbsc.org – BANDUNG, SPE ITB SC has conducted PHM Day on Field Development. This event is a course which allows participants to increase their knowledge regarding Field Development plans (FDP), allowing participants to learn on how to develop the best technical solutions for field optimization. The course was part of collaboration with Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) as speakers, and are held at Seminar Room, Petroleum Engineering Building of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on Saturday, April 13th 2019 for half of a day. The course was closed for public, therefore only accepted registrants are allowed to participate.
The course started at 8 AM with introduction to concept of Field Development by speakers, Supriady and Yan Muhazir of Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. Both expert of FDP taught participant to the ins and outs of Field Development Planning by introducing examples that were used throughout the course. Field Development is an intricate task of evaluating multiple development options for a field and selecting the best option based on assessing trade offs and other multiple factors, such as net present value, operational flexibility, scalability, capital, operating cost, technical, operating, and financial risks, as well. Therefore, an expert of FDP will be able to apply game-changing plans in order to design and execute credible, solid field development plans.
Participants of the course were also tasked to have hands-on exercise on calculating Hydrocarbon In-place Estimation and Reserves Estimation, the early steps of Field Development Planning, which then allows planner to create Appraisal Strategy and create Development Plan and Economic Plan that is credible. Participants enjoyed working on the task, with very high participation from students from many majors related to the course. In the end, participants are required to presentate their work in front of the course for suggestions and advices. The course ended on 5.30PM by taking mementos of participants and speakers.
