Joko Widodo, president of Indonesia gave three messages to Sudirman Said as the minister of energy and mineral resources (ESDM) at Royal Palace on October 7th 2015. The messages were about giving stimulus for energy industry. The explanation was presented in economy policy package part three.

Sudirman said that he was asked to trigger energy industry by strengthening upstream function. The second message was he hoped there would be no intervention at business entity. For subsidy policy, Jokowi asked him to be consistent to hold subsidy policy. Even if there would be deregulation and relaxation, Jokowi wanted that diversion from consumptive sector to productive sector still take in a good form.

At the presentation of economy policy package, Jokowi decided to decrease fuel price at the market. Solar became Rp6.700 per liter, Pertalite became Rp8.300 per liter, and Pertamax became Rp9.000 per liter. For LPG, the price became Rp134.000 for 12 kg’s gas.

On the other hand, Pertamina as the state-owned enterprises (BUMN) for energy sector claimed that it took deficit about Rp12,5 trillion by selling Premium and Solar to society. That is why Pertamina hold the price for Premium. Dwi Soetjipto as president director of Pertamina said the deficit still be handled by Pertamina and later would be discussed with government.

Nowadays, government came with formula to decide fuel price every three until six months with Mean of Platts Singapore Price (MOPS) as the reference and the exchange rate of rupiah against the US dollar.

May Sudirman listened the message and also the message from all of Indonesian society who still missed justice in energy sector.
